Tournament organisers confirmed on Saturday that Williams and Alcaraz will compete together at Flushing Meadows, marking the 44-year-old American great’s first competitive appearance at the US Open since 2022. Serena Williams is set for another high-profile return to the US Open after being handed a mixed doubles wildcard alongside defending men’s singles champion Carlos Alcaraz, creating one of the most eye-catching partnerships at this year’s tournament.

She has not said yet if she will play singles in New York, though the USTA is still holding one women’s wild card if she wants to compete.
