The Atlanta Dream are in Los Angeles for Monday’s matchup against the Sparks, with the visitors looking to make it four consecutive wins and continue their strong run late in the regular season.
However, Atlanta will be without one of its reliable bench contributors for the contest, as forward Brionna Jones has once again been ruled out.
During her limited action this season, Jones has averaged more than 16 minutes per game while contributing 8.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists. Her 5.6 rebounds per game rank second on Atlanta’s roster this season behind Angel Reese, who is averaging 12 rebounds per contest. She appeared in 44 games during the previous campaign and averaged 12.8 points per game. The Dream are 24-13 heading into the matchup after securing an impressive road victory over the Phoenix Mercury on Saturday night.
Because of a left leg injury, marking the fifth straight game she will miss, atlanta has sidelined the veteran forward. Jones is the only Dream player listed as unavailable on the team’s injury report. Jones has also provided a significant presence on the boards whenever she has been available. Atlanta enters Monday’s game with its remaining roster available for selection.
Head coach Karl Smesko told reporters Sunday that there is currently no established timetable for Jones’ return.
